May
meeting of the Rimrock Board of Directors
Present: Bill Cook, Dale
Knowlton, Kevin Danby, Carolyn Johnson, Gene McNeil, Dominique Effray. Absent
again-Curly Clark
Dale reported that
Curly contacted him to explain that again he would not be present at the board
meeting.
Bill called the May
Mtg. to order @ 9:14 AM.
Reviewed the
confidentiality agreement. Bill called on us to respect our member’s right to
privacy and our obligation to not undermine the board by making private deals
with members.
Points
of order: - Give every one advance notice of items to bring before the board to
avoid surprises.
Don’t plan on the board taking action on
off agenda items.
COMMITTEE
REPORTS
Planning: - Kevin reported that most
building activity was on structures of 200 sq. ft. or less.
- One request for a variance on building practices was denied.
A.T.V.:-
There has been some acceptance of the new ATV rules, as a result Kevin will
purchase more flags. Not everyone is thrilled with the rules leaving us with the
dilemma of how to deal with folks that are out of compliance. We plan to
continue to intervene in a respectful manner with the focus on member safety.
Communication and Conflict: - Julie
Sarff has stepped forward to assume the responsibility for this. After
discussions on the rare and exceptional issues she may reconsider.
Capital Projects: - The campground
renovation project started a bit late due to weather conditions. The power,
water and sewer pipes are laid in and trenches mostly covered. The drain field
is due to be covered some time next week, hopefully prior to the weekend.
Starting Monday, the new rates take effect with members paying $5.00 / day.
Still have more trees to plant and gravel to spread.
Phil
Wick is working on a design for a partially covered auxiliary barbeque in the
adult patio area.
New
Business: - Kevin is looking for help with the barbeque on Memorial weekend. We
expect a good turnout of members for the first event of the season.
Steve Thady has donated a pool table for the club house and we feel it
will be a good addition to game room. Looking for ideas on outdoor games,
activities we can add.
Another chapter in the saga of the western Washington Pigmy Rabbit involves the
last 2 of the breed in captivity and the only salvation for this unique breed is
the cross fertilization with a close relative in Idaho. After a successful
breeding program they will be reintroduced just East of Rimrock.
Budget:- Reviewed and compared with last year’s budget. Lot sales are way up
from same period last year. Prices are rising. Question about the value of a
lawyer on the board. Will take up at next
mtg. Comment made on the continuity that Jon brings to a group that has term
limits.
Staff update:- Libby is working out well. Roy and Linda started working in March.
The apartment remodel is complete, now looks completely different(great). John
has begun the grass and misc. other tasks.
Good of Order:- (someone ?) proposed
we have a Labor Day garage sale where RR members can sell / buy, unneeded /
treasures
The water system is looking for a solution to the mysterious water hammer
that has created extra maintenance problem. Annual nitrate test of the water
complete . Upper acceptable limit is 10PPM.
Next Mtg. July 29th , Sept 23rd or 30th , to be determined
soon.
Motion to adjourn by Dale second by Carolyn.
Respectfully submitted by: Dominique
Effray, Secretary
